Team Cayman will be visiting three main facilities to promote the use of music therapy on Grand Cayman:

A program dedicated to enhancing the development of young children from birth to 5 years of age.

A day treatment center designed to help adults with developmental disabilities lead fuller, more independent lives.

A school for children with special needs aged 5-18 which focuses on developing each child's unique abilities through individualized programs.

At each of these locations, smaller satellite groups made up of 3 students from Team Cayman will be engaging the participants through carefully planned music experientials.  Each session will be designed both to stimulate a joyful and potentially therapeutic experience in the moment, and also to give the full-time teachers and service providers some tools with which they can continue to enrich the children's and adult's lives after the end of this project.

Thanks to the generosity of two of our sponsors, AMTAS & Mud Pie Productions, Team Cayman will be bringing a variety of instruments down to Grand Cayman that they will donate to each facility upon the conclusion of the project.

Team Cayman will also be giving presentations to bring awareness of this effective, evidence-based form of therapy at various other sites around the island.  Possibilities for such presentations include:

  • Private schools
  • Counseling centers
  • Georgetown Hospital
  • Students & faculty at the School of Medicine at St. Matthew's University
  • Select government officials
