Media Appearances

June 16, 2010
After sending out a press release to some of my contacts in Grand Cayman, our project garnered quite a bit of media attention: from a radio interview and two TV appearances, to an article in the local paper.  This is very exciting, not only for the members of Team Cayman, but for the publicity of music therapy in general on the island!

Here are the links to our TV appearances:

http://www.cayman27.com.ky/news/item/5709 (Daybreak- LIVE morning show!)

And to the article online:

We are hoping that these media opportunities will help spread the knowledge and excitement about music therapy that Team Cayman worked hard to establish during our trip.

Exciting news from the island!

June 10, 2010
We have had an exciting opportunity come up for us that we want to share with our friends, family, and music therapy supporters back home--

We found out just a few weeks before leaving on our trip that it is actually SPECIAL OLYMPICS week on Grand Cayman the very same week that we are here!  What a wonderful coincidence!  We have been in contact with the Special Olympics committee, and they have invited us to participate in their official closing ceremony on Friday evening (!), with both some words about music therapy and a performance.

What a fabulous opportunity, not only for us as students to be a part of such an event, but also for the field, to be able to share some information about music therapy with a large audience!  We will update more as our plans for the ceremony get firmed up, but for now, we just wanted to share our excitement about this event!
